Reservoir Characterization in Pre-Salt Angola: Methods and Challenges

This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of reservoir characterization methodologies applied to pre-salt carbonate formations in the Kwanza Basin, Angola. We examine seismic interpretation, well log analysis, and 3D geological modelling approaches, identifying the primary technical challenges faced by operators in this complex geological environment. Our findings indicate that conventional characterization methods require significant adaptation for the high-porosity, fractured carbonate systems typical of Angolan pre-salt plays.
