Digital Transformation in Petroleum Refining: Lessons from the Lobito Refinery

The modernisation of Angola's Refinaria de Luanda and the development of the Lobito Refinery present a critical opportunity to embed digital technologies from the outset. This paper examines digital twin implementation, predictive maintenance systems, and real-time process optimisation tools currently being deployed, drawing lessons applicable to refinery operators across sub-Saharan Africa.
